Welcome to The Works of Devin Davis

Every New York Times bestselling author needed to start out somewhere, so this is where I am. I’m the little guy in the literary world of fantasy, but you’ll find I have a huge voice.

The Witch's Pupil

Red: The Color of Necromancy

Eventually the crystal cooled, glowing the color of blood as a million dots of light burst from it. It was the crystal’s light pixels that turned Demetrius’s stomach into knots. They represented potential, how likely the individual was to excel in magic. They measured the exceptionality of a person’s intelligence, skill, talent, strength, and much more. Such a high concentration of pixels indicated that his hated nephew Redangi could become a great wizard. Even greater than himself, or the other men of House Regalis.

The Witch’s Pupil takes the reader to a time before As Magic Shifts, delving into civilizations existing in Davis prison land of Vlaydor. Explore a world of murderers and tyrants, and one innocent boy forced to find strength in the most unlikely of places—dark magic.

As Magic Shifts

A Magical Order with a Dangerous Prelude . . .

More beasts filed in. When the last few entered the room, the floor began to vibrate. The monsters fell over each other, some taking flight, unable to stand. Then the floor erupted with a force of hundreds of pounds of volatile explosives. Sabine directed most of the blast upward, blowing the domed ceiling free from the building and into the night sky. Protected by a simple spell, she was unhurt from the blast but whirled out of control in the air. As she steadied herself to a hover, she saw that many more winged creatures had taken flight from other areas of the building. They swarmed toward her. She blasted some out of the sky, but one slipped behind and clenched her delicate neck in its powerful claws. She writhed and tried to scream, but the beast robbed her of her strength and wits. The creature held her against its body, its mighty wings beating heavily, and bore her away to its master.
